Cheerful Idiot or Village Idiot?

Several of the news programs showed President Bush at a military appreciation ceremony today. There he was smiling, swaggering, winking, looking for all the world like he was being inducted into a Hall of Fame of some kind for his eight years in office.

I thought what an idiot he is being so cheerful and carrying on the way he was made me think of the story of the village idiot. Then, I went to salon.com and there in one of the headlines was an article by Garrison Keillor titled, "The Cheerful Idiot."

Viola! Sometimes I shock myself with an insight that I thought only I could come up with. Then I left the isolation of my library and computer and looked around and it seemed like just about everyone was commenting on the "cheerful idiot."

I think I was sad for the president -- only for about a nanosecond -- before I recovered and remembered just some of the village idiot's decisions over the last eight years. His cheerfulness made me, once again, want to throw something at the television set thinking about all of the killing, murdering, yes, pillaging done by this "cheerful" guy!

I won't remember him as the "cheerful idiot" I will remember him as the village idiot who somehow got elected twice by the American people and the destruction of the constitution torn up in his wake as he leaves office. Instead of Bush heading for a McMansion in Dallas at the end of the month there certainly must be a prision cell waiting for him some place else. And, this is the last (I hope) to say about criminal Bush, uh, cheerful Bush!

W is an idiot and he is certainly cheerful about his idiocy. remember when he visited some of the wounded soldiers from his war of choice and came out of the veteran's hospital joking about one of his own wounds (some kind of cut on his finger from brush-clearing down in crawford)???

Garrison Keillor is very good, but for me Calvin Trillen's "Obliviously On He Sails" captures that aspect of W.

What is wrong with George? He completed his to stolen terms. The first determined by the Supreme Court, the second, Diebold, the trojan horse of vote counting. Started 2 wars, brought the country to ruins, and now leaves the white house, as he purchases a mansion in Dallas for 5 years worth of his salary, and Laura bought about $500K worth of china for the White house, as the country slips into a deep economic depression.
Do you think they are out of touch?
Their Mission not accomplished?
